Male Dark-eyed (Oregon) Junco. Carved from Tupelo Wood, painted with acrylics. Stump is a piece of Iron Wood; barbed wire is a piece from mt father-in-law's cattle land in Toledo, Washington. Piece was a gift.
Loggerhead Shrike. Tupelo wood and acrylics. Branch is brass tubing covered with Apoxy Sculpt, with brass rod thorns. Best in Division, Northwest Wood Carvers Show, Tacoma, Washington. NFS.

Miniature American Goldfinch (height from base of charred manzanita to top of bird's head is about 6.5 inches).. Bird is tupelo, painted with acrylics. Branch is 2-part Apoxy Sculpt over armature. Large piece is charred manzanita. Entitled "Renewal: Even the Birds Will Return." In honor of the losses experienced during the fires this summer in Washington State (and elsewhere). NFS.

Male Belted Kingfisher. Tupelo and acrylics. The piece is about 29 inches high. I like the way the wooden piece mimics the bill of the Kingfisher. The wooden stump is a piece of found wood my mother found in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. She worked the wood with a deer antler to bring out the finish. NFS
